Letter from the Editor

Dear Readers,

WELCOME FRESHMEN!!!

Life is like a box. A box has six sides, an inside, and an outside. And just like a box, our lives hold a plethora of stored miscellaneous artifacts and memories. We treat our lives like a box. We store and store and sometimes we rummage through the randomness of it all. We discard what we no longer need and keep the sentimental or important items. However, just like a box, our lives can seem bland, constrained, or sometimes even empty. In this nebulous blur we call life it is important to tell, retell, and tell again the stories and events that occur not only in our daily lives but also in the world.

Think about it! Allow me to take you to any time recent or further in the past, when a friend or family member was telling you a story about something that they found to be an important event. Let us say, a car accident. The person is flailing their arms in the air, using sound effects, and thoroughly describing their emotions during the impact. Now, while you’re listening to this story you are imagining the color of the cars involved, the sounds they made when they collided, and you may even try to visualize the look on this person's face. Storytelling is something that can transcend through and overlap all facets of life.

Publications like this one allow for different people to have an outlet. I beseech you all to write your stories down. Keep a journal. If you see something on the news that interests you, research it further and write a note to yourself. If you want, you can even write your friends’ stories down and use pseudonyms. If you make it a habit to read stories, listen to them; watch them on T.V. or in a film, and write notes or retell those stories, then you are immortalizing them.

If you immortalize an event, then, when you are feeling like time is about to expire and no monumental occasions have happened to you or that your life is dull, you can recount that event. By recounting the event you will be able to visualize your life in a more productive and splendid way. I feel that this issue has immortalized so many important issues, historical events, people, and locations. I encourage you all to read these stories and –DIMELO!

Sincerely,

Michael Anthony
